”Nicolae Testemitanu” University will implement the anti-bribery management standard requirements

On May 28 and 29, a training course was organized at ”Nicolae Testemitanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy to implement the requirements of the ISO 37001 anti-bribery management standard. The training activity was attended by vice-rectors and heads of structural subdivisions, who will subsequently contribute to its implementation and management within the University.
The training course was held by Nadejda Diaconu, Deputy Director for Development and Consultant in the Implementation of Management Systems at the Moldovan Institute of Standardization. The topics covered include: the phenomenon of bribery and its consequences, the concept, terminology and principles of the anti-bribery management system, implementation planning, user guide and necessary resources, bribery risks, establishing financial and non-financial internal controls, gifts, hospitality, donations, performance, reporting and investigating bribery concerns and cases, etc.
"This course is attended by staff trained in the assessment of QMS according to the international standard ISO 9001:2015, and the knowledge obtained will facilitate the implementation and subsequent successful integration of the requirements of the anti-bribery management standard into the university Quality Management System. From the information we have, we are the first higher education institution in the country to initiate the process of implementing the requirements of the anti-bribery management standard," said Olga Iurco, Head of the Internal Audit Department of ”Nicolae Testemitanu” University.
The workshop was held in accordance with Senate Decision No. 2/5 of 27.02.2025 on the approval of the Program for the Implementation of the Strategic Development Plan of ”Nicolae Testemitanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova for the period 2021-2030, for the year 2025, with the aim of implementing and maintaining an anti-bribery management system according to the international standard ISO 37001, as well as preventing acts of corruption within the University.
”Nicolae Testemitanu” University has declared zero tolerance towards any attempt or act of corruption, regardless of the function or position of the person involved. This is one of the basic provisions stipulated in the Rector's Order no. 56-A of 06.03.2025 and in the Action Plan on promoting integrity and combating corruption within ”Nicolae Testemitanu” University for 2025 (approved by Senate Decision no. 11/10 of 20.12.2024) and corresponds to one of the objectives established in the Rector's Activity Program for the period 2025-2029.
