”Nicolae Testemitanu” University takes 3rd place among universities in "Moldovan National H-index Ranking"

Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova is present in the international ranking "Moldovan National H-index Ranking" - an independent international assessment, designed to estimate the scientific productivity of researchers, research groups and organizations from the Republic of Moldova.

According to the report prepared in the fourth guarter of 2025, Nicolae Testemitanu University ranks third in the „Top 10 Universities from Moldova”, which have significant achievements in scientific activity.

Nationally, the University ranks 5th (National H-index – 59) among all scientific institutions, 2nd in Google Scholar (h-index – 111), 5th in Scopus (h-index – 63) and Web of Science (h-index – 57).

The report also presents the ranking of the best 1000 researchers of the Republic of Moldova, evaluated based on scientometric indicators - the h-index from the Scopus and Google Scholar databases. Currently, 11 researchers from Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy are included in the TOP 100 Moldovan scientists in the international Scopus 2026 database and 13 in the TOP 100 Moldovan scientists in the international Google Scholar 2026 database.

The "National H-index Ranking" is an independent international ranking, which aims to assess the scientific productivity and impact of scientific organizations, universities and research institutions. The main goal of the Moldovan National H-index Ranking is to support the development of science in Moldova and create conditions for the integration of Moldovan researchers into the global scientific space. Previously, the ranking assessed scientific activity in eight countries.

The development team launched a regional ranking for Moldova in March 2025 – Moldovan National H-index Ranking, which is updated twice a year (in May and November). The assessment is carried out based on the consolidated Hirsch index of scientific institutions in Moldova, using information from scientometric databases Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar. Thus, the National H-index Ranking indicator and the corresponding position in the ranking are formed.

The main goal of the Moldovan National H-index Ranking is to support the development of science in Moldova and create conditions for the integration of Moldovan researchers into the global scientific space. Also, the "Moldovan National H-index Ranking" provides researchers from the Republic of Moldova with the opportunity to track their scientometric indicators, compare them with international standards and obtain new opportunities for collaboration. Taking into account both the number of publications and their citations by other researchers, the h-index provides an objective assessment of the impact of a researcher or institution, according to scientometric indicators.

This ranking helps increase the visibility of the scientific activity of institutions and researchers from the Republic of Moldova worldwide and will contribute to the development of international scientific collaboration.
