2024 LAUREATE STUDENTS GALA

The future doctors and pharmacists, who excelled in 2024 through academic achievements, scientific accomplishments and active participation in various extracurricular activities, were granted awards at the Laureate Students Gala. The celebration was organized on December 19 by Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Association of Medical Students and Residents of Moldova (ASRM).
Opening the ceremony, University Rector Emil Ceban highlighted the achievements of students, master's students, doctoral students and resident doctors. "With each new project, you demonstrated not only professionalism, but also an immense dedication to promoting the values of our students, a fact confirmed by the Association's appreciation as the best student self-government of 2024 in the Republic of Moldova. Through hard work and tenacity, you have inspired and guided generations of medical leaders, helping to develop a united and strong community. We want you to honestly represent the voice of medical students and residents with the same enthusiasm and passion," noted the rector.
The Rector awarded the ASRM Honorary Diploma for prodigious activity and outstanding achievements, professionalism and social responsibility, promotion of education and medical research, leadership, culture and sports, healthy lifestyle and volunteerism among young people, as well as substantial contribution to increasing the visibility of Nicolae Testemitanu University at national and international level.
In total, 68 students and resident doctors became laureates in the following categories: Studies, Research and innovation, Organizational skills, Sports, Volunteering and ”Nicolae Testemitanu” University Promoter.
The following students were nominated in the Studies category:
Catalina Ciorici, 6th year, Faculty of Medicine no. 1,
Emilia Postica, 5th year, Faculty of Stomatology,
Daniela Fornea, 5th year, Faculty of Pharmacy,
Awadallah Tawfiq Allaythy, 6th year, Faculty of Medicine no. 2,
Carolina Serghei, 4th year, Nursing program,
Maria Hristeva, 4th year, Optometry program,
Victoria Tiltu, 4th year, Radiological Technology program,
Catalina Triboi, 4th year, Public Health program,
Sabina Kazaciok, 6th year, Preventive Medicine program.

- Badminton team: Krishan Gopu and Binu Abel, 5th year, Siraj Nafeesah Sara, 3rd year, Joanna Benny, 1st year - from the Faculty of Medicine no. 2, Raihan Shahsada Saidu, 3rd year, Daniela Ciobanu, 5th year, and Ilia Stamov, 1st year - from the Faculty of Medicine no. 1.
- Triathlon team: Corneliu Turcanu and Vlad Glavatchi - 2nd-year students at the Faculty of Medicine no. 1.
- Armwrestling team: Faiha Musthafa, Fezin Ziya and Rashif Shajahan – students in the 3rd year at the Faculty of Medicine no. 2, Andreea Gavris, 2nd year, Public Health program, and Nicoleta Bodrug, resident doctor in the Epidemiology specialty.
- Athletics team is represented by the students of the Faculty of Medicine no. 1: Ana Maria Paladi, 5th year, Alexandr Mateas, 6th year, Maxim Morari, 2nd year, Marius Fotescu, 1st year, and Daniel Mocanu, 3rd year.
- Volleyball team: Dumitrita Lefter, Ionela Nicoara and Eva Iurcisina, 3rd year, Catalina Cornita, 4th year, Ecaterina Caradjova, 2nd year – Faculty of Medicine no. 1, Ana Nicolaev, resident doctor, dento-alveolar surgery specialty, and Dana Ceaglei, 2nd year at the Faculty of Stomatology.
In the Volunteering category, the following laureates were nominated:

At the same time, during the event, the winners of the contest “Nicolae Testemitanu University Prize for Journalists, 2024" were awarded trophies and diplomas of honor:
1st place - Zinaida Batiru, journalist, "ONE TV" Television;
2nd place - Andreea Iriciuc, journalist and presenter, "TVR Moldova" television;
3rd place - Silvia Rotari, journalist, "Europa Libera Moldova" multimedia institution.
Besides, journalists Nicoleta Botnaru from the "Diez.md" media portal and Galina Alcaz-Jalencu from the "Teleradio-Moldova" Company were mentioned with diplomas and gifts branded Nicolae Testemitanu University.
Three other students from the Nursing program received the "Florence Nightingale" trophy, awarded by the Nursing Association of the Republic of Moldova: Carolina Serghei, 4th year, Eugenia Matcin and Rebeca Cataraga, 3rd year.
The "Health" Trade Union Federation of Moldova (FSSM) granted diplomas to the most active members of the trade union: Loredana Burda, Marius Nazaria, Catalina Repesciuc, Maria-Madalina Pirojoc, Adrian Tonu, Marina Lupu – 2nd-year students, and Victoria Preguza , 4th year - all from the Faculty of Medicine no. 1, and Maxim Corotas, 2nd year, Faculty of Stomatology.
And finally, the head of the Social Activity Management Center Gheorghe Buruiana handed trophies and diplomas of gratitude to "the most loyal partners of the ASRM": FSSM, Nicolae Testemitanu University, the University Center for Simulation in Medical Training, the Office of the World Health Organization in Moldova and the Country Office of the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in Moldova.
The atmosphere of the Laureate Students Gala was filled with joy, carols, songs, and dances.
