Ambassador of Tunisia in Romania and the Republic of Moldova on a visit to "Nicolae Testemitanu" University

Her Excellency Raja Jhinaoui Ben Ali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tunisia in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, paid a documentation visit to Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy on December 15, 2022.
The visit included a meeting with representatives of the University administration in order to initiate cooperation relations, promote the country and our institution in Tunisia, as well as to identify possibilities of attracting more young Tunisians to study in the Republic of Moldova.
The Rector of Nicolae Testemitanu University, Professor Emil Ceban, congratulated the distinguished guest on the occasion of accreditation in Chisinau by President Maia Sandu and made a brief presentation about the University, stressing that internationalization of the institution was one of the strategic objectives for the coming years. In this context, the rector mentioned that the University was oriented towards expanding the geographical area of recruitment of candidates for studies from French-speaking countries, including Tunisia. The institution has a highly qualified scientific and didactic staff capable of ensuring the training process in French, support in this regard being offered by the University Francophone Branch, and a well-developed infrastructure for the training of competent specialists in the field.
"Nicolae Testemitanu State University represents a credible institution, institutionally accredited according to the standards of the World Federation for Medical Education, with focus on the quality of studies. The accreditation of all the study programs at the national level and, more recently, the international accreditation of three integrated study programs - Medicine, Stomatology and Pharmacy – confirm this fact and lead to the recognition of the University worldwide", stressed Professor Ceban.
Her Excellency Raja Jhinaoui Ben Ali was impressed by the extensive activity carried out by our educational establishment. The distinguished guest expressed her willingness to build bilateral cooperation relations in the field of education between the universities of Moldova and Tunisia, noting that it would create opportunities to promote the country and our institution. For this purpose, the Tunisian diplomat invited the representatives of the University to participate in a forum in the field of education, which will be organized in her country in partnership with the ministries of education of both states.
At the same time, the ambassador cordially thanked the management of Nicolae Testemitanu University for the accommodation at the University hostels of Tunisian refugee students from Ukraine, once the war broke out.
During the dialogue, the parties discussed the requirements and procedure for admission to our university, problems faced by potential study candidates, fees, training and living conditions, including logistics, counseling and student guidance services to facilitate the process of integration into the university community and society in general.
Moreover, the tunisian ambassador met with the tunisian students studying at Nicolae Testemitanu University. Currently, 26 students from Tunisia are studying at our university. 25 of them have been transferred from Ukrainian medical universities.
