The Open Day at Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy brought together over five hundred young people - pupils, graduates and parents - curious and interested in getting to know academic life better.
The program began with a fair of educational offers of the University faculties – organized in the courtyard of the Central Block – dedicated to dialogue and information on higher education programs in the field of health. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about bachelor's, integrated and master's programs, study and living conditions, opportunities for academic mobility, curricular and extracurricular activities of students, but also to see the university infrastructure, etc.
Opening the welcome event, First Vice-Rector Olga Cernetchi, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Academic Management, has mentioned that the University is proud of the fact that it constantly attracts very well-prepared young people and welcomes all those who wish to build a career in the health field and become members of the academic community.
The University has five faculties: Medicine No. 1 (for local students), Medicine No. 2 (for international students), Stomatology, Pharmacy and Residency. The training process is ensured by highly qualified teaching staff, a modern educational infrastructure and high-performance research centers. Currently, over 6700 students study at the University, of which about 2000 are international students from over 30 countries, especially from India, Israel, the United States of America and other states. They study mainly in English. In the first years of studies, especially in Medicine, training is carried out in Romanian, Russian or English, depending on the program and the students' options. There are also programs taught in French, including the Francophone branch, in which both international and local students are integrated.
The First Vice-Rector has emphasized that studies in the field of health are long-term, but this is worth it, because doctors or pharmacists are representatives of the most beautiful and noble professions, always being viewed with respect and appreciation, even if they face numerous challenges. However, medicine or pharmacy offers unique professional satisfaction: the feeling of a job well done and the joy of being able to help people, save lives and receive the gratitude of patients for their improved health condition.
"Dear students, we are waiting for you at this year's admission to Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy. First, we wish you great success in your baccalaureate exams... And, on September 1, let's see each other again as students at our university," the first vice-rector concluded.
