The Indian students studying at Faculty of Medicine no. 2 of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy marked the Onam Harvest Festival.
Dressed in traditional attire, the medical students danced, sang and organized various fun activities. The magical atmosphere of the event was created by flower petal compositions, symbols of the festival, made by the students of our university.
The medical students have mentioned that the organization of such events brings them back home, to traditions and rituals, through which they are charged with energy and good mood.
Onam is the biggest and most important festival in the Indian state of Kerala, held for ten days between August and September, and marks the homecoming of the legendary king Mahabali. According to legend, it was during his reign that Kerala experienced its golden age. Everyone in the state was happy and prosperous, and the king was highly appreciated by his subjects. In addition to his virtues, Mahabali had one shortcoming – selfishness. That's why, during the festival, people show him how happy they are, through music and dance.
