A delegation from Romatem Hospitals - the only Turkish healthcare and rehabilitation network in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation - represented by Dr. Köksal Holoğlu, founder and chairman, Dr. Ferhat Kayan, Medical Director of the Turkish Healthcare Travel Council (THTC), and Natalia Ciobanu, director of the THTC Moldova Network Office, visited Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy on February 9.

The delegation had a meeting with the University Rector Professor Emil Ceban and with some representatives of the institution’s administrative team in order to establish collaborative relations in the area of medical rehabilitation training through academic mobility and internships and to offer logistic support to accredit 2-3 hospitals in the Republic of Moldova, where most of Nicolae Testemitanu University clinics are located.

Rector Emil Ceban presented brief information about the University, expressing his openness to establish a bilateral partnership.

Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova was institutionally accredited in 2019 by the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating in Kazakhstan, according to the standards of the World Federation for Medical Education. Currently, the process of international accreditation of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy study programs has started. One of the strategic objectives of our institution is the establishment of a university hospital - a contemporary requirement in the context of internationalization and training of health specialists”, the rector emphasized.

Professor Ceban mentioned that the clinical activity was an important direction as, at present, the University has 58 university clinics, located in 18 republican and municipal hospitals of the country. The university intends to provide support to a hospital, for the beginning it would be Timofei Mosneaga Republican Clinical Hospital, in view of this public health institution’s international accreditation.

Delegație de la „Romatem Hospitals” For his part, Dr. Ferhat Kayan, medical director at the Turkish Healthcare Travel Council, said he was interested in cooperating with academia represented by Nicolae Testemitanu University, giving assurances on behalf of the company that he was ready to provide assistance in the field of medical rehabilitation in respect of professional development and to offer logistical support for the accreditation of hospitals in the Republic of Moldova. The Turkish representative reiterated that he would come up with a concrete project in this regard.

In the same context, Rector Ceban announced that the University would launch a new undergraduate program this year - Physiokinetotherapy and Rehabilitation, and the support of Turkish experts in this field would be most welcome.
