”Nicolae Testemitanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy continues to be the only university in the country rated in the Scimago Rankings

Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova continues to be the only higher education institution in the country to be found in SCImago Institutions Rankings 2024 (SIR, https://www.scimagoir.com/). According to the SIR, our university ranks 2811th globally among 4762 higher education institutions (it advanced by 1087 positions compared to 2023) and 182nd among the 451 universities in Eastern Europe included in the rankings (it advanced by 142 positions compared to last year).

In the SCImago global top of medical institutions, Nicolae Testemitanu University occupies the 4132nd place among the 5280 institutions (surpassing 543 institutions compared to 2023) and the 191st position among the 337 educational establishments from Eastern Europe.

In the SIR of medical universities, Nicolae Testemitanu University is ranked 2057th worldwide among 2758 universities (it advanced by 399 positions in the last year) and 122nd among 214 medical universities in Eastern Europe. 

SCImago rankings is a classification of higher education and research institutions by a composite indicator, which combines three sets of indicators based on research performance (50%), innovation outputs (30%) and societal impact (20%) measured by their web visibility.

In the General SCImago Rankings, Nicolae Testemitanu University ranks  6155th globally among 9054 institutions (it advanced by 1411 positions compared to 2023), 294th among 810 Eastern European research institutions included in the classification, and on the first position at the national level, being followed by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. 

In the Research Rankings, which refer to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's scientific results, at the global level our university ranks 5775 among the 9054 institutions included in SCI (it advanced by 667 positions compared to 2023), on the 383rd place among the 810 research institutions in Eastern Europe, and is a leader at the national level. Also, Nicolae Testemitanu University is on the 2441st position among the 4762 universities globally included in the Research rankings and on the 228th position out of 451 universities in Eastern Europe. 

The Innovation Rankings are calculated according to the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations its research results receive from patents. Thus, the University occupies the 6176th place among the 9054 research institutions (it advanced by 1340 positions compared to 2023), the 2965th place in the ranking of the 4762 universities worldwide, and it ranks 130th among the 451 universities from Eastern Europe. 

The Societal Rankings are based on the number of pages on the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions in social networks. In this top, worldwide the University occupies the 4609th place among the 9054 institutions (it advanced by 2435 positions compared to 2023), the 2766th place among the 4762 universities, the 188th place among the 451 universities in Eastern Europe and first position nationally.
