"Nicolae Testemitanu" University - armwrestling champion among moldovan universities

The Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy became the armwrestling champion among higher education institutions of the Republic of Moldova in 2023. The University Sports Complex hosted the fourth edition of the National University Armwrestling Championship, held on 11 November under the auspices of the Moldovan Federation of Student Sports and Sports Veterans in partnership with the National Armwrestling Sports Federation. 

In total, 81 athletes lined up at the start, representing 9 universities of the country. 

The Nicolae Testemitanu University club team was made up of 16 athletes, the best results being achieved by:  

Nicoleta Bodrug – first-year resident doctor in Epidemiology specialty, + 65 kg senior category – first place in both arms; 

Rashid Shajahan – student at the Faculty of Medicine no. 2, +95 kg senior category – first place in left arm, third place in right arm; 

Cristian Renta – fifth year student at the Faculty of Dentistry, + 95 kg senior category – second place in right arm, third place in left arm; 

David Davtean – third year student at the Faculty of Medicine no. 1, senior category under 95 kg – second place in left arm, third place in right arm; 

Faiha Musthafa Karipp – second year student at the Faculty of Medicine no. 2 +65 kg senior category – fourth place in both arms; 

Alina Anand – fifth year student at the Faculty of Medicine no. 2, + 65 kg senior category – fifth place in both arms; 

Ziya Fezin – student at the Faculty of Medicine no. 2, senior category under 65 kg – fifth place in left arm; 

Andreea Gavris – first-year student at the Public Health specialty, Faculty of Medicine no. 1, senior category under 65 kg – fifth place in right arm; 

Cristian Ceban – third year student at the Faculty of Medicine no. 1, senior category under 65 kg – fifth place in both arms; 

Victor Antir – third year student at the Faculty of Medicine no. 1, + 95 kg senior category – seventh place in both arms; 

Iurie Vrabie – fourth year student at the Faculty of Medicine no. 1, senior category under 65 kg – seventh place in left arm;

Dionisie Cebotari – second year student at the Faculty of Medicine no. 1, senior category under 95kg - seventh place in left arm. 

Other teammates who contributed to the sports results achieved are Corneliu Turcanu, Valeriu Carafizi, Fiodor Popsoi and Salem Prasad. 

Nicoleta Bodrug, captain and coach of the university armwrestling team, multiple national champion, and holder of the title of master of sports in armwrestling, as well as at the international level (medalist at the European championships in this sport and referee with senior international rank), declared that she was proud of the team she formed: "Thanks to you, dear colleagues, we managed to achieve this result. We have all shown that we know how to cooperate and work hard, so we are going to reach new heights!" 

The person who founded the armwrestling circle and constantly contributes to the improvement of the members' performance is university assistant Mihail Cojocari, head of the Department of Physical Training.

In the team ranking, the Taras Sevcenko University from Tiraspol ranked second, and the Technical University of Moldova ranked third.
