”Nicolae Testemitanu” University class of 2025 has taken The doctor's and pharmacist's oath

999 graduates of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova swore dignity and devotion to the profession of doctor, dentist, pharmacist or specialist in other health fields. This festive moment crowns the 5 or 6 years of studies, by training practical skills, establishing personal values ​​and overcoming limits, developing human relationships, shaping a personality with a noble and decisive role in the evolution of society. 

The ceremony was inaugurated by Rector Emil Ceban, who thanked the graduates for choosing to study at Nicolae Testemitanu University, which this fall celebrates 80 years since its founding - eight decades of dedication to education, research and healthcare, as well as significant contribution to ensuring public health, life quality enhancement for people of our country and so on. 

The flag parade for the countries of origin of this year's University graduates generated emotions of pride and honor in the representatives of the 16 states. In this context, the rector emphasized the international dimension of the University, which integrates young people from 33 countries, the performance and prestige of the Alma Mater that represent a visit card of the Republic of Moldova in the world, the professionalism and qualification of the teaching staff who guided them towards their chosen profession and developed their mandatory skills, the moral support provided by mentors, the colossal effort and perseverance of young people demonstrated in courses, tests, exams, etc. 

One of the guests of honor at the celebration was President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Igor Grosu, who expressed his hope that specialists would remain to practice at home: "In recent years, the largest investments - over 3 billion lei - have been made in the health system, but these investments are worthless without professionals in the field." In this context, the speaker of the legislature has assured them that the state will continue to modernize hospitals, endow them with high-performance equipment, improve working conditions and increase salaries, so that doctors and patients feel safe. 

The Doctor and Pharmacist Oath Ceremony followed, in Romanian and English, after which the graduates sent a message of thanks and gratitude to the teachers and parents and passed on the flame of knowledge to the first-year students. 

"From today, you become members of the medical community in the Republic of Moldova and in your countries of origin. We urge you to have great confidence in your own strength and determination in carrying out all future projects, because we are fully convinced that this knowledge, obtained at Alma Mater, will allow you to successfully integrate into the European medical system. Never forget that you are part of the big family of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, whose doors will always remain open for your professional development. We urge you to continue your studies here, to contribute to the development of the national health system and, together, to build European Moldova at home," the rector noted. 

With a message of congratulations and support for the young graduates in a new stage of their lives came Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco, who spoke about the vocation, efforts and challenges of being a doctor or pharmacist, about the reforms in hospitals to ensure optimal conditions for all specialists in the field. "A special merit and a special gratitude that I encourage you to keep in your hearts is for the teaching staff of Nicolae Testemitanu University, university assistants, associate professors, professors, heads of departments, the administrative apparatus, vice-rectors, and rector, who have guided you during these years through all this fascinating beauty called medicine. Our dear Alma Mater has offered humanity exactly one thousand graduates and I cannot help but express my personal gratitude for what I am today - a finished product of this university. Today you step into a special world - a world of magic. "This is also related to the covenant for the profession you have chosen for the rest of your life, a world where, with your help, light will always win over darkness and life will win over death. It is something almost divine that you will be holding in your hands as of today," the health official noted.

Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun told the graduates about the human dimension of the profession they have chosen, responsibility for the patient, civic duty, the power to comfort and offer hope, adapting correct models in activity, ethics and professionalism, taking over the European vector of change. At the same time, the government representative offered them several suggestions, including: never to take advantage of the vulnerability of those who ask for their help, not to let themselves be shaped by a system in the midst of reform, not to accept compromises that contradict personal values, to learn English and to be an active and vocal part of a society that will soon be subjected to a complicated test. "A true doctor is not only a competent person, but also a warm, empathetic professional who is always present. Sometimes a word spoken with kindness or a sincere look is worth more than any treatment. People need not only impeccable professionals, but people who listen to them, understand them and remind them, through every gesture, that they are not alone in one of the greatest challenges in their lives," the minister pointed out. 

"Dear graduates, now the real journey begins - you will step into hospitals and clinics, into communities that need you. You will witness suffering, but also rebirth; you will learn that every patient is a lesson, every moment is a mission. Do not be afraid, because you are prepared, because not only conscience, but also character, not only technique, but also compassion, especially the courage to do good, even when it is difficult, has been planted in you. Go ahead with an open heart, a clear mind and a burning soul!", urged Gheorghe Placinta, Dean of Faculty of Medicine No. 1. 

In turn, Mircea Betiu, Dean of Faculty of Medicine No. 2, encouraged them to move forward with confidence, curiosity and integrity: "After years of rigorous study, clinical practice, sleepless nights, and unwavering commitment, you finally have taken the oath that marks the beginning of your professional life - applying your knowledge in medicine, while maintaining your focus, ethics and compassion. With this promise, you will uphold your clinical experience and scientific integrity, you will honor the dignity of every patient, you will respect life... Nicolae Testemitanu University will always be your academic home. We, your professors, are proud of your achievements, and we have trust in your future!" 

"Today, the Class of 2025 has achieved their goal of becoming members of the medical community. From this moment on, a new stage in your life begins - that of a dentist, and it’s you that the next generations will look at with hope. Starting today, you will face other challenges - bringing back the smile on the face of your patients - a path of activity and professional development throughout your entire life. Do not forget that the success of the disciples is marked by the care and effort of their predecessors. We remain here, in this wonderful university, for each of you!", said Andrei Mostovei, Dean of the Faculty of Stomatology.

"Dear graduates, on behalf of the Faculty of Pharmacy, I would like to tell you that we are proud of you. You have graduated not only from a demanding academic program, but also from a school of patience and responsibility. You have learned to work meticulously, precisely, you have learned to be the best. You have chosen to work in a field where every decision can cost a person's life. Pharmacy is not just about formulas, reactions or regulations. Pharmacy is a school of patience, responsibility, and what you have learned in 5 years will be the foundation for your entire activity. No matter where your steps take you, carry this truth with you, because knowledge acquires real value only when it is offered and shared responsibly", mentioned Livia Uncu, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy. 

The deans were accompanied by the best representatives of the Class of 2025: Mihaela Vlad and Catalina Triboi, graduates of Faculty of Medicine No. 1, Poorvica Narayanappa, graduate of Faculty of Medicine No. 2, Emilia Postica, graduate of the Faculty of Dentistry, and Cristina Cojocari, graduate of the Faculty of Pharmacy, who sent messages of gratitude to the teachers and messages of congratulations and good wishes for the future to the graduates. 

"Over the years, I have learned a lot, but I also understood that the University is not just a building with reading rooms, laboratories, a library or information and research centers. The University is an organism that lives through its people, through the level of its teaching staff, high-quality educational programs and professionally organized institutional processes, all contributing to a high level of training of future specialists. But, even more importantly, it is the spirit that reigns in this institution," said Irina Ciochina, a graduate of the Faculty of Dentistry. 

The most touching moments of the ceremony were the graduates' messages to their parents and family members, who supported them throughout this marathon. "Our success and achievements are, to a large extent, their success. There is no greater pride for parents but to see their child wearing a robe at the Graduation Ceremony. Without your love and support, dear parents, it would have been difficult for us to achieve these results," said Tawfiq Awadallah, a graduate of Faculty of Medicine No. 1. 

This year, after passing the graduation and bachelor’s degree exams, 999 graduates took the Oath: of these, 710 are local and 289 – foreign citizens from 16 countries. Of the total number, they completed the integrated study programs as follows: Medicine – 627, Dentistry – 225, Pharmacy – 72 and Preventive Medicine – 6; and the undergraduate programs: Public Health – 14, Nursing – 15, Optometry – 13 and Radiology and Imaging Technologies – 8 young people.

Another 19 people completed their studies in master's programs: Human Nutrition – 11, Public Mental Health – 3, Clinical Optometry – 2 and Molecular Technologies in Health – 3. 

The celebration took place on June 11, 2025, at the Chisinau Arena, and brought together state officials, representatives of diplomatic missions in Chisinau; heads of hospitals and clinics, members of the University administration; vice-deans, heads of departments, heads of studies, teachers, students, parents and friends.
