Students of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy - members of the Association of Dental Students from Moldova and the Association of Medical Students and Residents - participated in the Race for the Cure charity marathon, the 9th edition, as a sign of support for women fighting breast cancer. The event took place on October 6, 2024, and was organized by the Run Pink Moldova community.

"Good deeds are not counted, they are performed. This marathon gathered people with big hearts and beautiful souls. We chose to be with the women who are fighting a hard battle with breast cancer and show enormous strength", said Dorin Tatarciuc, third-year student, Faculty of Medicine no. 1.

For her part, Delia Minchevici, fourth-year student at the same faculty, said she wanted to contribute to promoting the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of various ailments.

Irina Ciochina, fifth-year student at the Faculty of Dentistry, told us that she was inspired by concern for people's health and empathy towards those in difficulty. The motivation to participate in this marathon is simple: every step counts in the fight for life.

Vice-dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Olga Cheptanaru, Associate Professor at Pavel Godoroja Department of Dental Propaedeutics, noted the empathy and responsiveness of our university's students: "Each of you contributed to creating an atmosphere of solidarity and hope which is essential in the fight against this disease. Your presence proved that together we can make a difference. The impact we have had in this community would not have been possible without every gesture of support, because every small action counts. Together, we can bring light and hope to the lives of women facing this painful challenge. Thank you for your willingness to make a change. Let's continue to be a strong voice in support of those who need us".

The participation of Nicolae Testemitanu University team is an admirable action, an example of solidarity, empathy, and involvement, said Adriana Rotaru, founder of the Run Pink Moldova Community, who noted that our university had the largest team at this edition of the marathon.

October is the month of awareness and prevention of breast cancer, marked since 1985, at the initiative of the American Cancer Society, through an international convention, actions supported by the World Health Organization.
