”Nicolae Testemitanu” University team of researchers and inventors won Excellent Idea-2023 trophy for the second consecutive year

The team of researchers and inventors from Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova obtained, for the second consecutive year, the trophy of the Excellent Idea International Exhibition of Creativity and Innovation. Moreover, the representatives of our university received the most mentions in the Awards Gala, in total being awarded 35 medals, of which 22 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze.
Nicolae Testemitanu University rector, university professor Emil Ceban, specified in the opening of the event that for the development of the research field, it was important to strengthen the scientific base and encourage international competitiveness. "According to the Strategic Development Plan until 2030, at Nicolae Testemitanu University the concept of education through research should be implemented, providing for the involvement of students in the research process, starting from the first year of studies, along with the scientific-teaching staff through participation in student scientific circles, research projects, scientific, institutional, national and international forums with the publication of results and, subsequently, in the process of completing their bachelor's and graduation theses," mentioned the rector.
The intellectual property of our institution, during its 78 years of activity, has materialized in 490 invention patents, 6132 innovations, about 160 copyright certificates, which are implemented in the scientific-didactic and scientific-practical activity, having a considerable impact on the quality of medical assistance rendered to the population and the development of the healthcare system in the Republic of Moldova. During this event, Nicolae Testemitanu University researchers exhibited: 19 innovations, including a cycle of works, 1 copyright, 7 inventions, including a cycle of inventions, 2 research projects, 3 books (2 monographs and a manual), 3 ISI published articles, and independent contributions by 4 authors.
Associate Professor Andrei Pădure, head of the Forensic Medicine Department, leader of the Excellent Idea-2023 trophy winning team, emphasized that this important distinction was the merit of the team's constant effort: "It was a great surprise to receive the main prize of this exhibition of great impact. We wish the participants success, inspiration and hope that they will become the winners in the next editions."
For his part, Eugeniu Valic, student in the 6th year at the Faculty of Medicine no. 1, winner of the Youngest researcher trophy at Excellent Idea-2022, appreciated and awarded with a gold medal at the current edition, came with an encouraging message for all participants: "An innovation left in theory is forgotten in time, that's why I wish both senior researchers and young researchers great success and support from the authorities, to believe in their inventions, because that's the only way we can have a more decent living and support the progress in our country."
Excellent Idea-2023 exhibition promotes innovations, inventions, research project results and published scientific literature of local and foreign authors to expose them to the public. At this year's edition, a total of over 160 inventions, innovations, research projects and ISI publications of intellectual property owners from Romania, Ukraine, Poland, Italy, Holland, Bulgaria, and Moldova were presented.
Excellent Idea is at its second edition and has been organized by the Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova in partnership with Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
