Open doors day at ”Nicolae Testemitanu” University for high school students from Hincesti, Straseni and Stefan Voda districts

Ziua ușilor deschiseAbout 300 students from high schools in Hincesti, Straseni and Stefan Voda districts visited Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova at the Open Doors Day events, held on March 4 and 6, 2025. 

The young people had meetings with Rector Emil Ceban and First Vice-Rector Olga Cernetchi, deans of the faculties and the representative of the Admissions Committee, thus having the opportunity to find out information from the first source about the University's study programs, directions of activity, admission conditions, studies and accommodation, tuition fees for the 2025-2026 academic year, international cooperation, scholarships and academic mobilities, etc. 

Rector Ceban has urged young people to thoroughly get documented about the field in which they want to pursue their university studies, to choose with all their heart the profession that will bring them moral and professional satisfaction, but, most importantly, to stay in the country and become valuable specialists. In this context, Professor Emil Ceban referred to "Learn in Moldova“ national campaign, launched by the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova, highlighting the importance of this initiative in promoting quality education. Finally, the rector informed the young people that on April 12 the University would open its doors for all those interested, especially for those interested in the field of medicine and pharmacy. 

Open doors day at ”Nicolae Testemitanu” UniversityFirst Vice-Rector Olga Cernetchi, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Academic Management, has emphasized that Nicolae Testemitanu University is the most prestigious university in our country, as the only higher education institution that trains doctors, dentists, pharmacists and other specialists in the field of health. "Currently, over 7000 students study here, of which 2500 are international. We offer a wide range of study programs. All study programs are accredited at the national level, and the integrated ones - also at the international level. Now, we are in the process of preparing to obtain a new international accreditation of the University, according to the standards of the World Federation for Medical Education", the Vice-Rector pointed out. 

Gheorghe Harea, secretary in charge of the Admissions Committee, spoke to the high school students about the admission process to our university: "The conditions are simple and valid for both science and humanities  applicants. In addition, for several years, no admission exams have been organized. You only need to obtain good results in the baccalaureate exams, which will represent the basic criterion for your admission to the University." 

Open doors day at ”Nicolae Testemitanu” UniversityThe visit program included excursions to the Central Teaching Block (Petru Galetchi Hall, Meeting Room 204, Conference Room 205), the Morphological Block (Department of Anatomy and Clinical Anatomy, Museum of Human Anatomy, Department of Histology, Cytology and Embryology), the Faculty of Stomatology and the University Dental Center. 

The graduates had the opportunity to participate in two interactive workshops organized by the University Center for Simulation in Medical Training in partnership with the Association of Medical Students and Residents of Moldova: "Basic Course in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation" and "Medical Emergencies: Airway Obstruction"; and two others organized by the Faculty of Stomatology: "Learning Dentistry through Simulation and Digitalization" and "Oral Health Prophylaxis". 

Several high school students declared themselves delighted with the activities organized by Nicolae Testemitanu University: 

Open doors day at ”Nicolae Testemitanu” UniversityGabriel Croitorul from Universul Theoretical High School in the village of Sarata Galbena, Hincesti district, was impressed by the multiple training methods and techniques, both theoretical and practical, the variety of casts and anatomical items for studying the human body at the Department of Anatomy and Clinical Anatomy. 

Aurel Slefco from the same high school also said he was surprised by the opportunities offered by Nicolae Testemitanu University, the teaching materials and the benevolent and friendly attitude of  teachers. The student is tempted to study Medicine, later - the specialty of Surgery. 

According to Maria Chenaru from Mihail Sadoveanu Theoretical High School in Hincesti, this event was a new and exciting experience. "I was most impressed by the human anatomy, the exhibits of the human body and the casts to be studied by medical students. At the Faculty of Stomatology, I was impressed that they teach in English, they speak quite fluently, and the teachers are kind and understanding with the students," said the student. 

Open doors day at ”Nicolae Testemitanu” UniversityIn the opinion of Catalina Dolgoruc, a student at Stefan Voda Theoretical High School in the city of Stefan Voda, Nicolae Testemitanu University is a special university, where an essential field for our lives is studied – medicine. “I believe that medicine offers us the ability and opportunity to learn the structure of our body and its essential functions. As regards the locations we visited today, the most impressive was the presentation at the Faculty of Stomatology, where they told us about the stages of training and professional development. Initially, during this tour of universities I was thinking of law or economics, but after the visit to Nicolae Testemitanu University I changed my perception of things a bit”, the student specified. 

Melania Angheliu from Ion Inculet Theoretical High School in the village of Vorniceni, Straseni district, mentioned that "it was an unforgettable experience, I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to visit the Morphological Block, the University Dental Clinic, classrooms and study rooms. I believe that Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy offers equal development opportunities for all local and foreign young people, in an essential field for our society." 

Open doors day at ”Nicolae Testemitanu” University"I would like to build a career in dentistry, because currently the dental profession is appreciated and renowned. I am attracted to taking care of the oral health of the population," said Daniel Cotorobai, a 12th grade student at the Theoretical High School in the city of Stefan Voda. 

Nina Rotaru, teacher of Romanian language and literature at Mihai Sadoveanu Theoretical High School in Hincesti, expressed her appreciation to the administrative team of our university for the impeccable organization of the Open Doors Day: "A consistent and timely event for potential students. Nice achievements to mark the name of the University."

The professional orientation and career guidance activities are part of the national campaign "Learn in Moldova", launched by the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova with the aim of promoting the educational programs offered by higher education institutions in the country and encouraging high school graduates to continue their studies at home.
