Rector Emil Ceban – Doctor Honoris Causa of ”Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy from Bucharest

The Rector of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy from the Republic of Moldova, Professor Emil Ceban, was awarded the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa of Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy from Bucharest – the oldest and largest institution of medical higher education in the Romanian space. The ceremony took place on Monday, October 3, 2022.
The celebration was moderated by the president of the University Senate, Prof. Dr. Dragos Vinereanu, who expressed his feeling of high appreciation and honor for the opportunity to address a remarkable personality – Emil Ceban, rector and friend of Carol Davila UMPH from Bucharest.
In the Laudatio, presented by rector of Carol Davila UMPH, Prof. Dr. Viorel Jinga, it was mentioned that Professor Emil Ceban stood out during his career through professionalism, dedication, responsibility and substantial contribution to the medical field, for which ”as a sign of gratitude and recognition for everything that urologist, professor, researcher and person Emil Ceban accomplished, we propose to bestow upon him the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy from Bucharest”.
Visibly touched, rector of Nicolae Testemitanu university professor Emil Ceban said: ”I am deeply honored by the high appreciation of my modest merits coming from the most valuable and prestigious medical university community in Romania. I would like to believe that with this high award you have appreciated the entire academic community of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy from the Republic of Moldova, which I have the honor to represent and on whose behalf I thank you very much”.
Rector Ceban highly appreciated the traditions of collaboration between our university and Carol Davila UMPH – an open professional cooperation between partners, colleagues and friends, who have the same mission and objectives of sustainable development. ”I am firmly convinced that the friendly relations and cooperation between our institutions will undergo a remarkable evolution in the future, which will allow the Chisinau University to reach a European level, so that together we can enhance the heritage and prestige of our guild, in the interest of the present generations and future ones”, emphasized Professor Emil Ceban.
The solemn meeting was attended by: H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to Romania Victor Chirila; Minister of Health of Romania, Prof. Dr. Alexandru Rafila; the former rectors of Carol Davila UMPH – Prof. Dr. Florian Popa; Prof. Dr. Ioanel Sinescu, titular member of the Romanian Academy, director of the Uronephrology and Renal Transplantation Center within Fundeni Clinical Institute and president of the Romanian Association of Urology; Prof. Dr. Petrisor Geavlete, titular member of the Academy of Medical Sciences, head of the Urology Clinic at Sfantul Ioan Emergency Clinical Hospital of Bucharest; Prof. Dr. Leonard Azamfirei, rector of George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology of Targu Mures, who came with a congratulatory message of appreciation addressed to rector Emil Ceban.
