Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy had an impressive presence at the European Researchers’ Night 2026, a event dedicated to promoting science, research and innovation, held on September 25 in Chisinau.
The University’s team stood out through the diversity of its exhibits and interactive activities, transforming medical research into an accessible and engaging experience for visitors of all ages. Through thematic stands, researchers, academic staff and students presented various fields of medical and pharmaceutical sciences, giving visitors the opportunity to discover, experience and better understand what happens beyond laboratories, research projects and scientific publications.
Thus, Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy offered visitors the opportunity to assess their body composition and evaluate several health-related indicators, take screening tests for symptoms of anxiety and depression, and participate in activities focused on raising awareness and promoting reproductive and oral health.
One of the highlights was the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) first-aid workshop. Participants had the opportunity to learn and practise intervention techniques that can save lives.
Professor Mihail Todiras, Head of the Health and Biomedicine Research Centre within the National Research Institute in Medicine and Health and a representative of the University’s administrative team at the European Researchers’ Night, spoke about the University’s scientific potential, its modern research infrastructure, and the opportunities it offers to researchers and young people interested in science.
“In medicine, every diagnostic or treatment method and every medical technology requires years of research, difficult questions and the work of entire teams. For Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the meaning of research is deeply human: to prevent suffering, detect diseases earlier and give people the chance to live healthier lives,” Professor Todiras noted.
In addition, Mihail Todiras emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research and collaboration among scientists from different fields.
“When a physician and an engineer work together, a patient’s need can become the starting point for a new device. When a researcher and a digital technology specialist combine their expertise and efforts, data and findings can contribute to evidence-based medical decisions. We need such collaborations among universities, researchers and professionals in order to transform ideas into solutions that are useful to people,” the professor stressed.
The European Researchers’ Night reached its 13th edition and aimed to bring researchers closer to society, increase the visibility of scientific activity, and stimulate children’s and young people’s interest in pursuing careers in research. This year, the event brought together researchers from around 40 European countries, with activities estimated to have reached more than one million visitors.
