The installation of the Hippocrates bust was possible with the support of GDHI partners, at the initiative of two representatives of our university – Professor Dumitru Casian, head of Nicolae Anestiadi Department of General Surgery, and Associate Professor Vasile Culiuc.
Rector Emil Ceban stated that it was an honor for Nicolae Testemitanu University to inaugurate this symbol of medicine during the week in which the institution marked 80 years of academic excellence and that, in this way, we reiterate our commitment to promoting the fundamental values of the medical profession and to actively integrating ourselves into the international academic circuit. "We decided that the bust would be placed here, in the socio-cultural center of the University, next to the Health Sciences Library, where every student, resident physician and professor has access, in order to connect with science," the rector noted.
Dr. Konstantinos Pantos, Vice President of GDHI, obstetrician-gynecologist, in vitro fertilization specialist, noted that it was a privilege to take part in the unveiling of the bust of Hippocrates on an anniversary occasion of the University: "We hope to continue the cooperation with Nicolae Testemitanu University and young doctors from the Republic of Moldova will have the opportunity to visit the birthplace of Hippocrates – Kos Island in Greece."
"Hippocrates unites peoples, emphasizing what medicine should represent, in fact, its high ethical mission, and the bust will promote friendship and collaboration, leading young doctors to focus on the ethical principles that guide this field, because at the center of any science, first and foremost, must be the human being," specified Dr. Athanasios Giannoukas, professor at the University of Thessaly, Larissa, Greece.

President of the Social Activity Management Center Gheorghe Buruiana thanked the Greek partners for the generous gesture made for the current and future students of Nicolae Testemitanu University: "It is an honor to unveil the bust of Hippocrates and promote the values he left us as a legacy."

Afterwards, the Greek professors delivered a lecture for students, resident doctors, and teaching staff.
