Launch of the Monograph "Major cognitive disorders (dementia) in patients with neurodegenerative and vascular pathology"

A group of scientific-teaching staff and researchers from Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy in collaboration with specialists from Diomid Gherman Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery launched the monograph "Major cognitive disorders (dementia) in patients with neurodegenerative and vascular pathology. Pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment". The launch took place on December 14, 2023, and was appreciated by specialists as an event of major importance, because it is a first one for the medical community of the Republic of Moldova.
The specialized scientific work is the result of the team work of authors Lilia Rotaru, associate researcher, coordinating scientific researcher, Functional Neurology Laboratory, Diomid Gherman INN; Anna Belenciuc, PhD student; Oxana Grosu, senior scientific researcher, Laboratory of Cerebrovascular Diseases and Neurorecovery, Diomid Gherman INN, and Ghenadie Cărăușu, Associate Professor at the Department of Mental Health, Medical Psychology and Psychotherapy, under the editorship of university professor Mihail Gavriliuc, head of Department of Neurology no. 1, Nicolae Testemitanu University. The monograph has been designed as a synthesis of the state-of-the-art knowledge in this field and includes extensive information, starting with historical data and fundamental pathophysiological knowledge to diagnostic procedures and both experimental and approved pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. In this regard, the authors intended to inform the public about the targeted range of cognitive disorders.
"The monograph represents one of the newest publications in the given field in the South-Eastern European area. We opted for information quality, emphasizing evidence-based data. It is the result of the work of a large group of researchers and we hope that it will be a useful source of information and documentation for specialists. The volume is a gift on the eve of the winter holidays for all the specialists in this field", said Associate Professor Ghenadie Cărăușu.
"This monograph will remain for years to come in the country's libraries and in the digital scientific treasury, and whenever someone consults the 21st century knowledge resources, this work will be a reference. It seems simple writing a book..., but in fact it represents a sacrifice of time and energy", emphasized university professor Mihail Gavriliuc.
The guest of honor at the event was Professor Cristinel Ștefănescu from the Discipline of Psychiatry, Gr.T. Popa University of Pharmacy and Medicine, Iasi, Romania. Also, the launch event was attended by researchers, teaching staff from Department of Neurology no. 1 and from the Department of Mental Health, Medical Psychology and Psychotherapy of Nicolae Testemitanu University, neurologists and psychiatrists, resident doctors and doctoral students.
