Prospects for collaboration between ”Nicolae Testemitanu” University and the University of Granada in the field of optometry

Representatives of the Department of Ophthalmology and Optometry of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova - Associate Professors Lilia Dumbraveanu, head of the department, and Rodica Bilba, head of studies - paid a working visit to the University of Granada, Spain, between February 24-28, 2025.
The visit program included meetings with professors from the Faculty of Sciences: Simón José Suárez Cuadros, director for international mobility, and Razvan Ghinea, vice-dean for internationalization.
The parties discussed strengthening inter-university collaboration, including during a meeting with professors: Luis Gómez Robledo, director of the Optics and Optometry Program, Sonia Ortiz Peregrina, director of the Research in Optometry and Visual Optics Master's Program, and Miguel Ángel Martínez Domingo, Optometry Program international coordinator.
Our delegation also visited the University Optometry Clinic and university laboratories, which allowed them to learn about the teaching methodology and academic infrastructure.
"This visit marks an important step in strengthening international relations and developing a modern and competitive optometry program. The collaboration prospects aim at implementing a doctoral co-tutoring and double degree program, exchange of educational materials and curricular adaptation, mutual visits and academic mobility, participation in scientific events organized in partnership, etc.," Lilia Dumbraveanu emphasized.
In turn, Rodica Bilba mentioned that the visit was focused on developing academic collaborations and aligning the Optometry study program with European standards.
