For the first time, Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy was included in the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2022, (SIR, https://www.scimagoir.com/) and ranks first at the national level, being the only university of the Republic of Moldova among 3 research institutions from our country present in the ranking. According to SIR, Nicolae Testemitanu University ranks 546th globally among 4364 universities and 120th among 440 universities from Eastern Europe.

In the medical universities ranking, our University ranks 605th worldwide among 2567 universities and 99th among 183 Eastern European universities.

SCIMAGO is a classification of higher education and research institutions by a composite indicator, which combines three sets of indicators based on research performance (50%), innovation outputs (30%), and societal impact (20%) measured by their visibility on the web.

In the General SCIMAGO ranking, our university ranks 709th globally among 8084 institutions and 160th among 797 Eastern European institutions. Nicolae Testemitanu University ranks first at the national level, followed by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (AȘM) and the Institute of Applied Physics of AȘM.

In the Research ranking, which refers to the volume, impact, and quality of the institution's research results, globally our university ranks 425th among 8084 institutions, 371st among 4364 universities, and 99th among 440 Eastern European universities. 

The Innovation ranking is calculated according to the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations its research results received from patents. Thus, the University ranks 419th among 8084 research institutions, 261st among 4364 universities worldwide, and 51st among 440 universities in Eastern Europe.

The Societal ranking is based on the number of pages on the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions from social networks. In this classification, worldwide the University ranks 248th among 8084 institutions and 218th among 4364 universities, also being 42nd among 440 universities from Eastern Europe.

In the SCIMAGO global ranking of research institutions in the field of Medicine, our university ranks 814th among 4680 institutions and 141st among 284 Eastern European institutions.
