Teaching and scientific staff from Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy participated in a training course for trainers in the Laboratory Quality Management module, during this week, in accordance with the implementation plan of the sub-project "Strengthening education through research in medicine (FORCE_Med)" - part of Moldova Higher Education Project, implemented by the Ministry of Education and Research with the financial support of the World Bank.
In the opening of the event (April 1, 2024), the rector of Nicolae Testemitanu University, Professor Emil Ceban, emphasized the relevance of training for ensuring the quality of laboratory activity management, in accordance with international standards, of research activity, as well as for the promotion of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
According to the rector, the project's activities aim to increase the level of professional training of university graduates in line with the technological development of modern medicine. "Due to the project, the research laboratories were endowed with technical equipment for the students’ scientific activity, which will contribute to the development of research skills in the fields of molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, morphology, physiology, etc. These laboratories will also constitute a significant support in the training of master's students, doctoral students, and resident doctors, in gaining the skills required for their profession through the knowledge of molecular medicine methodologies, which are applied in personalized treatment. Moreover, the motivation, encouragement, and active training of students in the learning process based on experimentation will ensure the effective connection of the study objectives to the current level of development of practical medicine and biomedical sciences and to the requirements of the labor market", the rector stated.
Olga Tagadiuc, subproject manager, pointed out that 20 people participated in the training - teaching and scientific staff, who will disseminate the knowledge in this field throughout the local academic and medical community. Thus, the modernization and enhancement of the quality of the educational process at all levels of studies will be ensured by reconfiguring training from the perspective of training new skills in accordance with current technological requirements, to increase the attractiveness and competitiveness of the University and study programs both nationally and and in the European space.
On Friday, April 5, at the end of the course, participants were handed certificates of participation. The vice-rector for research activity of Nicolae Testemitanu University, academician Stanislav Groppa, emphasized the importance of the knowledge gained by the course participants for the promotion and organization of quality in research. "We implement strategic directions for the evaluation of primary material, which are essential in research. Everything we publish now is in open access and everyone who is interested will refer to our results. That's why the trainers have an important role in organizing the laboratory activity and ensuring the success of a study”, the vice-rector specified.
The course was held between April 1-5 this year by Zaruhi Davtyan and Arsenu Zakaryan, experts from the Integrated Quality Laboratory Services Company in France, who trained the participants on modern quality management methodologies in laboratory activity.
